My favourite well-known artist has to be Pablo Picasso, and I decided that when I saw his exhibit at MoMA. His works carry and convey a lot of emotion to me. Especially his "Embrace" series. He uses such rounded shapes and bold colours that it is both aesthetically pleasing and inspiring to me.
Other than that, I just admire a lot of recreational artists I find on the internet and other blogs. I really enjoy Alexis Mire's photography. Here's a link to her flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sealegssnapshots/
I enjoy her work because she has such creative ideas for shots and they're very conceptual and different. Her knowledge of film photography and lighting techniques is something I would love to master. And she's my age, it's pretty impressive.
